NOBODY IS A NOBODY

4-10-11

When we consider the size of the world in which we live, and we come to realize that we are such a small part of it, it is easy to think of ourselves as being somewhat insignificant. It is easy to be weighed down by worldly things and sometimes this leads one to feel unimportant, alone, and sometimes even helpless. What we should realize, however, is how much God cares for us and I want to focus on that love He shows to us even today.

1 Pet. 1:18-20 says, “Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you.” Notice in particular verse 20 of the above passage. God had a plan for our salvation even before the world began. (Makes you feel a bit more important doesn’t it?) God had already appointed Christ to suffer and to die for the forgiveness of our sins, even before the world began.

God’s love for us is evident throughout the Bible. One of the most widely used verses in the Bible states God’s love. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” When someone chooses to obey and become one of God’s children, God abides in that person. “Whosoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.” (1 John 4:15). “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.”(1 John 4:16).

If one is a child of God and abiding in Him, then they must love God and therefore they will keep the commandments of God. 1 John 5:3 says, “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.” If we are keeping God’s commandments then we are serving Him in such a way that is pleasing to Him. How can anyone be insignificant when serving the most-high God? Realizing God’s love for us and in turn loving God enough to deny ourselves and keep his commandments is our essential duty while here on Earth. When we are doing God’s will we will be working alongside other Christians, supporting one another, realizing that we are not alone in the work that we do. There is no greater service that one could do than to be in service to God, and if we are serving Him properly then we are a significant part of his kingdom.
