Saved To Serve
It seems as though, in the church today, that service and the commitment to the
ministry of the gospel has taken the back seat to superficial, recreational,
entertaining events and programs which neither effect the commission of
discipling the lost nor impress upon their hearts the passion or purpose of
Christ. Churches and saints have become increasingly focused and even consumed
with secondary, mundane matters while more pressing, weightier interests of the
church remain scarcely performed.
Why is it that we can “pack the house” for something recreational or
entertaining, but we can always find something better to do when there's work or
service edifying involved? Jesus
amassed a large following as long as He healed or fed the people. But, when He
stopped to teach, the crowds grew thin.
Let's not be in it for what get out
of it.
Our reward is in Heaven, but our labor is here on earth. Remember, we were Saved
to Serve.
